Every box on the form, already typed.
Upload or photograph a W-2, any 1099, a 1098, or a K-1 and get back every labelled box in printed order — as JSON to import, CSV to open in Excel, or a clean transcript to read alongside the original. Ambiguous digits are flagged, never guessed.
$5 for 50 pages, and they never expire. No subscription, no seat licences.
Retyping tax forms is where season gets lost
A client hands over a stack of W-2s and a mixed bag of 1099-NEC, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, and a K-1 that arrived late. Each one is two minutes of careful keying and one minute of double-checking — and the cost of a transposed digit is an amended return, not a typo.
Tax Doc Scanner reads the form the way a careful preparer would: box by box, in printed order, transcribing exactly what is there and saying so when a value is unreadable. You review exceptions instead of retyping everything.
Built on the forms themselves
Output follows the printed layout of the form — box 1 is box 1, including the boxes the payer left blank. No remapping, no guessing which field is which.
- W-2, W-9, the full 1099 family, 1098, K-1
- Blank boxes returned as blank, not omitted
- Payer, recipient, and TIN fields kept separate
It never does your math
Values are transcribed, not calculated. If a printed total disagrees with its parts you get the printed total and a note about the discrepancy — never a silently "corrected" number.
- Transcribed totals, flagged discrepancies
- Illegible digits come back empty with a note
- A confidence summary on every scan
JSON, CSV, or a readable transcript
Pick the output that fits your next step: JSON for your tax software import or the API, CSV for a workpaper, or an extracted document to read side by side with the scan.
- JSON for imports and integrations
- CSV for Excel workpapers
- Markdown transcript for review
Frequently asked questions
Which tax forms does Tax Doc Scanner extract?
W-2, W-9, the 1099 family (NEC, MISC, INT, DIV, R, K, B, G, S and others), 1098 and 1098-T, and Schedule K-1. Receipts, invoices, bank statements, and handwritten notes are handled too.
Does it work on phone photos, or only clean PDFs?
Both. It was built for what clients actually hand you: photographed-at-an-angle forms, faded thermal receipts, and handwriting, as well as payroll-portal PDFs. Better images give higher confidence, and the scan tells you its own confidence either way.
How much does it cost?
Pay per page, prepaid, and pages never expire: $1 for 5 pages, $5 for 50, down to about 7 cents a page on the largest pack. New accounts get 5 free pages to try it. Firms can put the whole team on a monthly pooled plan instead.
Try it on the worst W-2 in the pile
Five free pages, no card. That's usually enough to know whether it earns a place in your workflow.
