Review the exceptions, not the whole return.
Built by an engineer who spent years designing document-extraction systems for mortgage verification — where a misread number kills a loan file. Client tax documents get the same discipline: transcribed exactly, flagged when uncertain, never "corrected".
$5 for 50 pages, and they never expire. No subscription, no seat licences.
Season is a data-entry problem wearing a tax hat
Most of the hours between January and April go to getting numbers off paper and into software, then checking that they got there correctly. The judgment you're paid for happens in the minutes left over.
Tax Doc Scanner takes the first half off your desk and makes the second half faster: every box transcribed, every doubtful digit pointed at, and the output ready for your tax software or workpaper.
Two rules it never breaks
It never does your math, and it never guesses. Those two rules are what make the output safe to trust at review: what you see is what was on the document, and what it couldn't read is marked.
- Printed totals transcribed, discrepancies noted
- Illegible values left blank and flagged
- Confidence summary per document
Forms, receipts, and the shoebox
W-2s and the 1099 family, 1098s and K-1s; receipts and invoices with per-line categories; handwritten mileage logs and ledgers. One tool for the whole intake folder.
- Tax forms box by box
- Receipts with line items and categories
- Handwritten records transcribed literally
Pay per page, not per seat
Prepaid pages that never expire for a solo desk; a pooled monthly plan with unlimited seats when the whole firm is on it. Either way, nothing is charged in the off-season.
- $5 for 50 pages, never expiring
- Firm plans from 1,000 pages a month
- Five free pages to start
Frequently asked questions
Can the output go straight into my tax software?
The JSON and CSV are built for import, and the Chrome extension can autofill scanned values into web-based tax and bookkeeping tools. Field names follow the form's box numbers so mapping is obvious.
How do you handle client confidentiality?
Personal accounts keep nothing after the result is returned. Organizations get per-org envelope encryption, email MFA, a signed audit trail, and a retention window, and a DPA is available. The details are on our security page.
What if it misreads something?
Everything it isn't sure of is flagged, so the review step is short and targeted. Because it never computes and never guesses to fill a gap, the remaining risk is the ordinary one of any transcription: you check the flagged values against the original.
